Designing the future of human–AI interaction. 20+ years.

I'm Mohan Venkatesh — a Senior UX Designer, UX Manager and one of the earliest practitioners of Agentic User Experience (AUX) design globally. Based in Athlone, Ireland, I work across enterprise Telecom, Healthcare and Higher Education — designing systems where GenAI, automation, and human decision-making meet.

What I do

My work sits at the intersection of complex enterprise systems and emerging AI paradigms. I coined and practice the AUX (Agentic User Experience) framework — a design methodology for interfaces where AI agents act autonomously on behalf of users: orchestrating tasks, making decisions, and surfacing results in ways that preserve human trust, oversight, and control.

Before AUX became an industry conversation, I was designing agentic workflows for Ericsson's Service Orchestration platform — used by global telcos including Telstra and Swisscom — where the system autonomously provisions network services while keeping human operators appropriately in the loop.

Beyond AUX, I bring deep expertise in end-to-end UX research (usability testing, heuristic evaluation, contextual inquiry), design systems at enterprise scale, and managing multidisciplinary UX teams.

Experience

Senior UX Designer & AUX Lead
Ericsson · Athlone, Ireland
Mar 2019 — Dec 2025

Led UX for the EACC and Service Orchestration product lines. Designed agentic UX patterns for autonomous network provisioning across global telco clients (Telstra, Swisscom). Ran end-to-end usability studies, built and maintained the UI component design system, and pioneered the AUX design framework within the organisation.

The AUX Framework

Agentic User Experience (AUX) is a design methodology I developed for interfaces where AI agents act with autonomy — making decisions, executing multi-step tasks, and operating across tool networks on behalf of users.

AUX addresses questions that traditional UX frameworks don't: How do you design for a system that acts before the user asks? How do you maintain human trust in an autonomous agent? When should an agent interrupt vs. proceed? How do you surface agent reasoning without overwhelming users?

The framework covers intent signalling, progressive disclosure of agent actions, graceful fallback design, confidence communication, and human-in-the-loop checkpointing — applicable to any product where AI operates with meaningful autonomy.
